Office workers and maintenance personnel had to take a "mandatory unpaid furlough day" this past labor day. This means they basically got screwed out of the normal holiday pay.

Kim and I opted to work through this past holiday (Labor day) and did receive our normal pay plus holiday pay.

I posted this info so readers may understand that it is not an "us vs them" equation in reference to management and drivers.

We are all feeling the pain of this lousy economy.

My suggestion? Hang on tight and cut expenses at home as much as possible. This recession is not over yet and will take several more months before things begin to turn around.

If you have a job be sure to do everything in your power to keep it.

Guess every one finally starverd to death . All this crying broke crap is disgusting , NEMF guys are at each others throats over the pay cut , And just like always , there are people justifying Shevells GREED thats what its all about and anyone who thinks otherwise is a idiot . I have been screwed ever since I sat in a truck back in 2005 . My career was distroyed by some wanna be skin head who, with a stroke of his pen made my DAC record look like I am the worst driver on earth . And this is were I landed .
Its funny how a company thats crying broke just hired 8 new drivers . Sooner or later I will get past this DAC garbage and get out of this scum bag company and then OUT OF THIS SESPOOL called THE USA . I bet Shevell is going to have a great christmas .Just got paid 619.00 just paid rent and one other bill and I will be eating peanut butter sandwhices again all week . I had a wonderful diner tonight . A 2.25 egg sandwich , I wonder what MS had for diner tonight .:biggrin_25510:

Thats right , dont eat. light candles ,take cold showers ,sell your car,
The only reason why this country is going through this mess is GREED !!!!!!!!!! plain and simple GREED. And the old man is just enjoying taking from the very ones that made him rich .I cant wait for the day I get on that plane ,and wave goodbye to this country. And I will watch on the news as everyone here just lays down and dies while corporate America steals every penny from the working man .

Sorry to hear things are so bad for you BK.

Considering how many other carriers have gone belly up, laid off drivers, cut driver pay, and canceled benefits I would look on the bright side of things; You are still employed. If you lost this job you would then have to choose between collecting unemployment or trying to find another job.

In the current economy we have an over supply of drivers. This means wages are dropping, and benefits are being cut. The employers have ALL the power right now. They get to choose who they will hire and who they will dump. When they have more applicants than job openings it makes it easier to tighten up on the job qualifications. It also makes it much easier to get rid of low performing/disgruntled drivers.

If you truly believe Eastern is such a bottom feeder company then perhaps it is time to look for greener pastures. Life is far to short to continue working for a company you clearly despise.

Of course there will be several drivers just itching for the chance to take your job and probably for LESS money than you are getting paid.

We may not be able to change the economy but we can change OUR attitude and how we deal with our reality.

He is entitled to his opinion even if some of us do not agree with it.

We have a capitalistic society. The wealthy have no restrictions on how much they earn (provided they are not a monopoly and pay their taxes).

I do not begrudge MS or Bill Gates or any entrepreneur for being successful. We all "choose" where we work and either choose to accept the offered pay or reject it.

Each one of us have the chance to strike out on our own and make a fortune for ourselves.
