I talked to a recruiter tony booker, he said they were hiring drivers for their croydon PA terminal.they are looking for regional drivers that stay in a five hundred mile radius. He told me i would have to go to knoxville for two weeks for training.he told me i would start out on sunday night and be back on friday. He said drivers average between 950-1050 dollars a week.My questions are does this sound about right. Also i would just like to how they are to work for. Whats the average miles a week do you get paid for load/unload detention time and so on thanks.

when you say lots of sitting do you mean waiting for loads or at customers sites waiting to be unloaded. How long have you been sitting on average and how much do you get paid for waiting or when does your waiting pay begin. How long has your average runs been.

I was a Driver trainer for them. I left in 97 because the terminal I ran out of in Reserve La. was going to be closed because the main Customer for them here was Union Carbide, which was bought out by Dow.

Anyway They were a heck of a good Company then. I had one of the first new Mack's when they changed from Fright-shakers. You got paid for everything you did. At the time you were paid $17.00 per hour for loading & unloading. I was getting .38ctm loaded and empty. 50 % was empty, you would normally dead head to the nearest terminal when you unloaded.
We were paid $ 12.00 per hour for tank wash, $ 12.00 per hour layover waiting for your next load 8 hours out of 24. And 99% of the time that was at a terminal. Except in Jersey City which was at a tank wash ( that place sucked ) You could use the tractor to go were you wanted. One time in Jersey City 8 of us Bobtail to liberty park and spent the day at the big green Lady in the Harbor. Most of the time layovers were over the week end. Loads were assigned on a first in basis and you got to chose which load you wanted, but if you were the last and there was only one load left guess what you got. lol
But all in all They were a good place to work after you were there a while you got to know everyone and they you. You were not just some driver.
I would still be with them if they had not had to close the Terminal here.

    White_Knuckle_Newbie Thanks this.
