High Rpm....low speeds

Thats all I was asking. In the early 2000s I had the displeasure of driving an ex Schneider truck. It was equipped pretty much the same as yours with the direct 10 and the 2.xx gears. Thats pretty much exactly how it ran and shifted. The bottom side got no speed at all, then the top side started spreading out slightly. All told though, the truck was meant to only run 63-65mph when Schneider had it and it would've been around 14-1500rpm. For their purpose, the truck was ordered properly.

 

What happens in 10th gear? Theres a pretty big gear gap in a 10 a speed

 

The reason that I and others said clutch was because you stated multiple times that your rpm’s climbed faster relative to your speed while loaded versus empty.

Take the gear calculator and punch in the ratios for each gear of your transmission and see what your speed should be at 1500 rpm.

 

I mean like #### I even posted the list of gear ratios for the transmission a few pages back.

Its frustrating. We all suggested things to check and/or verify that would help pinpoint the issue and for the most part, it seems to have been ignored.

 

I hate to say it, especially with the money you invested, but its really probably correct. I know you said its different than it was, but what you have shown and described, is pretty much what I remember from years ago. I understand the engine isn't the same as the one I drove was a series 60, but everything else matches up.

 

This whole thread feels like a who’s on 1st joke.

 

Against my better judgement I punched in a few different ratios of that transmission. 2.64 rears and 40" tall tires and my numbers were WAYYY off what OP describes.

For ####s 'n' giggles, try and switch the ratio from 2.64 to 3.91 and try the transmission ratios. Dang near bang on what OP describes in post #1.

 

Well what do you mean driving like crap? Going through the gears fast and not gaining much speed according to rpm isnt driving like crap.
