$100K in the bank to start, minimum. Good down payment or pay for truck. Pay a good portion of insurance(have you priced insurance?). Get truck tinkered and fixed to your liking. A good chunk in the bank for breakdowns. Money to run on for the first couple months.

I'd say when you're hooking up to your first trailer, you should have absolute minimum 25k in the bank.

 

TransAm has nicer trucks that are loaded for driver comfort.

I started out with my own numbers so have no clue on Lease On to Company. But a guy just posted about being leased onto Landstar and needed to replace his One Box after only two months and was stuck for 5 days and dealer said 9K to replace. He is no longer replying back on this forum, So guess he gave up. Make sure to have 20K min in your pocket after truck.

 

No you don't. But you do need a pretty decent chunk of change but you can start off lower and save as much as you can. You should try and at least have the cost of am engine rebuild in your account.

We've done both, but we own our truck. Leasing on only requires a few dollars in gas $. But, you should have a min of $2k for 2290, fuel, inspection, etc. 10k in case of repairs/emergency.

Having an authority was a whole 'nother story. We had to shut it down due to lack of funds & only running 1 truck. The driver didn't run enough miles to keep the lights on. But I think we only came out of pocket about 7k to run the 1st load. I would suggest 10k minimum (20k to be comfortable) + 3mo operating expenses.
