One other thing to consider, after the Enron failure all Corporations are required to keep email in an archive for a period of time ( i do not recall-but I think it is five years). As long as it showed up in his in box than you would be covered.

if you absolutly have to drive while sick(fever)flu cold.try a healthy dose of dayquill, and chase it with mt.dew code red.do it again b4 lunch.this seems to really help me.it will alieviate your symptoms, and the dew will keep you from dosing.but it will not make you feel better.that is where some good ole fashioned mentel toughness will have to come in.

You can bet I'm gonna cover my legal behind before I cover my employment behind. Mama only raised one fool and he's my older brother....

And Slip, thanks bro. I know the tricks. Retired GI here.

I had a cold and was taking Robitussin. I stopped in Safety and asked them about the possibility of being put out of service for being ill. I felt fine and was not having problems. I was worried about Iowa scale house pain.

Safety said if I felt fine, it was my decision. If I did not feel up to it, they did not want me driving.

I worked for 10 days for a company that wanted me to work when I had the flu and was under Dr's written orders of bed rest and nyquil. The supervisor chewed me out on the phone and threatened me with my job. 36 hrs later, when I felt well enough, I walked into the office, handed him my badge and never looked back. The job was the print warehouse to route carrier midnite mtn. run for The Denver Post. It was a union gig, even though I wasn't union yet, I called them the next day and told them about it as well.

Well, nothing against you but if your just starting a new job any company frowns on anyone taking time off for the first 90 days or so. Usually this is the grace period they give all new hires. Sick or not, just plain old sucks to be new at a company for less than two weeks and have to request a day off. Not too many companies will say "It's ok take all the time you need to get better"

    Those are the ropes,

considering that taking Nyquil automatically disqualifies you from being able to drive since it's alcohol based he was in no position to require me to drive.

I also found out a year that he forced another driver, who was more desperate than me, to do this when he was sick. Unfortunately, it had a different ending, the driver ended up dozing off, sideswiping a guardrail and another truck before laying it over.
