Probably a T 600 not the most team friendly but we wont know for sure till we check out some others on the lot. Iam a KW person she likes them too. But we both like space. But i think we should go with quality over quantity at this point and time.

Ok, plan is we got to pick up the truck in Iowa by the 16th of Nov. We're looking at a few different reefers, preferably on the way back to TX because it's looks like we'll be eating the deadhead. Although the other half has his eye on a reefer in ND..... not sure about doing that though. We are going to start the filing process on our authority in the next week or two so it'll be in place on time. We'll come back to TX get plates and registration. Load up the truck and hopefully be on the road in a day or two.
As for freight.... we're going to use brokers and load boards. A friend is going to hook us up with a broker he uses and I have a list of others we will be contacting. The goal is to frequently use 3-4 brokers and a load board or two.Last edited: Oct 4, 2009

I purchased a truck in Indiana in June, and drove it home to Florida bobtail. I was stopped at a coop in Tennessee because of no IFTA sticker. My usage is non-commercial, and after showing the TN scalemaster the actual IFTA regulations, she reluctantly agreed I wasn't required to have one.
She also told me that my temporary registration was ok, but that I would've gotten a ticket if I'd been hauling a load on it.Tankergirl80 Thanks this. -
And I was told the complete opposite. To get a temporary registration you still need to pay your fees, so you are paid, and in the big computer listed in a state as having having operating authority. The only difference is that you don't have plates.
Its not legal to haul a load on an "in transit" permit or dealer tags, or whatever the move from one location to another permit is called in your state. In Illinois is a 7 day in-transit permit. -
I should clarify that my "temporary tag" was an Indiana tag issued to me by the dealership from which I purchased the truck.
Once I got home, I went to my local tax collector office and applied for both a title and registration at the same time. To do this, I needed:
- The original title (truck was still titled in Illinois, even though I bought from a dealership in Indiana. Their customer who was the previous owner was an Illinois resident.)
- VIN verification (to verify the title matches the truck) performed by a Law Enforcement Officer (Florida also lets a notary public do this, but I asked a police officer to do it for me)
- Proof of insurance
- Identification
- Money
Florida issues your plate right away, so there was no "temporary tag" issued to me by Florida -- only the dealership tag from Indiana. Also, Florida does not really distinguish between "commercial" and "non-commercial" vehicles for license plate purposes, unless you get an apportioned plate for interstate operation. As I am not hauling freight, I got a regular Florida plate.
