The story I got was he pulled over to use the phone, where I don't know. He was in a bad signal area, so the message didn't go through right away. By the time it did get sent he was driving down the road, and was subsequently terminated in one of those audits they do.
That's a raw deal if ever I've seen one.
WalMart drivers word to the wise...

I do get it. 2 building mounted cameras, I do NOT know if some store has developed an evil use of those cameras, Do you know for a fact that this is being done on a chain wide basis? Is it in the driver manual? While I totally do hate firings for sending a message, with no defense allowed. Yep that sucks! I’m basically in agreement with you, but many times
Topics here are just BS and fantasy. Yours was firsthand and obviously true. Sorry if i was in the “Fog”. Although I can’t defend lack of Pre-trips.Last edited: Sep 22, 2020

Driver verses CCTV
Driver loses every time he lies on his logbook. -
If it's true and not made up because he got fired for another reason and doesn't want to admit it.Roger.B1240 Thanks this.

It’s true, there was an article on it. IIRC he was driving through Illinois when the issue happened. Actually it was Nestle.
Trucker accused of texting and fired over bad cell service is offered his job back, backpay
In some parts of the country (especially Wisconsin) there are communication “dead zones” where cellular service is poor or virtually nonexistent! I have that issue going thru Wisconsin along I-94 around Eau Claire(Verizon doesn’t like that part of the state for some reason).speedyk, Sirscrapntruckalot and ZVar Thank this. -
Nestle and WalMart are about equal, evilness-wise. Both of them should have heir C-suites dropped in the ocean where the sharks are feeding.

Yeah...it's not paranoia. Safety is calling drivers into the office, asking them what store they have been at, and pulling the footage from that store. The driver is then audited, and written up if they did not perform all of the steps required...and it's not just a walk around.
In the 2 years that I've worked at Walmart, I've learned that there are 3 ways of doing things:
1: The way that we all do it
2: The "trucking company safety department way".
3: The Walmart way
Yes, the pay is good. But that pay comes with the bonus of micromanagement and bs safety writeups. Like going 72mph downhill in a 75mph zone because it violates Walmarts speed limit. The camera audits are just another weapon in their vast arsenal of weapons to micromanage.T.Rucker, TokyoJoe, darthanubis and 3 others Thank this.
