For me hometime is most important.
The company I work for now only started me at .45cpm, which is a pay cut from what I was making with less experience at my last company but when I started working for them the first question they asked me was "Would you rather drive days or nights?" My last job was driving a crapload at night and then day and then night. My sleep schedule was so screwed up I'd fall asleep driving and wake up on the rumble strip. They also missed getting me home on the days that I requested many times, and mandated I stay out 2 weeks or more at a time.
My new company I can go home every weekend or run as long as I'd like. I get 3 days off every 14 or 5 days every 21 if I want. I can also request an "afternoon at the house" so I can get my mail, restock the truck and mow the yard. They do it without complaint and have never missed getting me home.
Oh yea the new company has faster trucks so the miles are much better per week.Moosetek13 and Blue Zombie Trucker Thank this. -
Just make sure u get a hotel every once in awhile. Its good for the brain and the eyes to get them off the back of the windshield.. Otherwise you will get burnt out, especially after a stressful week with stevens transport... u gonna be pulling reefer i take it ?Sirscrapntruckalot and Wasted Thyme Thank this.

Good post, but the best results will be in one ear and out the other.
If a person won the lottery or received an inheritance and netted $10mil in their bank account YET were completely broke less than 5 years later, would you consider that person Lucky or Unlucky? -
That's what I'm talking about.
You found a company that works with you instead of against you.
A few cents per mile is nothing compared to a supportive team behind you.drivingmissdaisy and Blue Zombie Trucker Thank this. -

Well, 'tis the season coming that staying safe will mean later loads, due to the weather.
Still, better later than never.
Did I mention...?
I don't chain up to get it there sooner. I shut it down and get it there when I can.Blue Zombie Trucker Thanks this.
