Not saying it wrong but do you know how to make an old truck run? It’s not for everyone, and there’s more then turning the key and going, keep saving and go brand new if not.

2000 short hood classic. Detroit and 13 speed. Gave 13k.

Working on turning every bolt the second time. Still would do it again.

I know what you're saying. I bought a 25k truck in February. I've spent more on maintaining it than paying down on it. I'm going through the steps with the bank to get a brand new, probably gonna order one. If the money is going out, it might as well be going towards a new seat! I'm not trying to pay myself everything possible. If you can't afford new truck payments, can you afford a major breakdown?

? I put in a factory reman in for 28k. Very, very far from a new truck payment. But I do 99.5 percent of my work.

I've wrenched on my own for a long time. Bought a brand new one last December and it's nice.
Example, dropped the truck off at dealer for service like I do every month and went on vacation, got a call a couple days later that wheel seal was leaking and it would be replaced under warranty.
How nice it is to enjoy an actual vacation!!!
I crawl underneath and grease it every weekend and check things out and check tire wear a pressure.
    Old habits die hard.

Im not old enough, but my father was.

@heyns57 correct me if I'm wrong.

The truck Net 5k after all expenses. Profit.

He was paid driver wages and benifits on a separate check.

Two check system. Guessing he did very well.

$60k, O/O spec'd 2015 Volvo 780 with all records, new (warrantied) iShift and APU. Bought it in 18 when these were really hard to find. Paid it off in less than 2 years. Also bought and paid for 2015 Great Dane dry van in 18.

Shame is now my truck is worth probably less than 25 even though it is in great shape. Doesn't matter, no interest in selling her.

    Coffey Thanks this.
