Hey how are you guys taking your tests at the DMV, do you have to schedule an appointment in advance since (I'm assuming) the DMV is still not operating normally and requiring appointments?
So before you could just go to the DMV, take the test, if you fail oh well come back the next day, and you could literally take the test for a month straight M-F if you needed too.
But now if you make an appointment to take the test at the DMV, if you fail, are you having to wait months to take it again due to the DMV being backed up?
I live in North Carolina but I'm wondering what everyone's experience is with this, including you OP?
Adding Hazmat endorsement - do I need to remember each class and division?

Pay the money for the upgraded app. I passed the hazmat, tankers, and triples endorsements first try after running through the questions a few times. DMV Genie for your state.
-
Works that way in Nebraska too.
The only catch is the computer knows how many you have missed already, and also the number you have passed on, and it will bring back one of the questions you passed on and force you to answer it.Trucking in Tennessee Thanks this. -
You are telling me that you can go to the DMV and take this test and only answer let's say 4 questions and pass? No officer looks at your test to see how you took it? I find that just impossible to believe.
-
No, that's not what he said. What he said is that you have a set number of questions for each endorsment, of which you need to answer X numbers of questions correct.
For example: Hazmat endorsment in Massachusetts - you have 30 questions, you need 24 correct, which means you can fail 6 questions. So lets say you start the test, right off the bat you answered the first 6 questions wrong - you're done. You failed the test. Computer shuts down, you go home.
On the other hand, if you answered the first 24 correct, the computer will also shuts down, you can't continue because you don't need to continue since you passed the test.BeHereNow97, terryt and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
The way you worded this you acted as if you could just skip over as many questions as you wanted so you you would not fail. Ultimately, you have to answer a certain amount to pass. I see your point now, but you could have stated it differently.

My local DMV told me commercial license holders could walk in (without an appointment), and they would work you in if they could. This was not for the road test.BeHereNow97 and Trucking in Tennessee Thank this.

Here is a hypothetical:
Imagine taking a 30 question test that is on PAPER, not on a computer. You read question 1 and don't know the answer, so you skip it and go to question 2. Because it is on PAPER, you could read the entire test and not answer a single question. This is what I mean by "skipping" questions. Obviously you have to answer the questions until you pass or fail.
The tests on computer allow you to do something similar. Again, I am 100% certain I have taken endorsement tests and "skipped" questions. I only skipped a few before answering enough to pass. -
I’m pretty sure I was allowed to skip then go back to questions, too.
-
Well of course. You have to get a certain number CORRECT to pass. A skipped question is the same as answering wrong. But it does allow you to continue (I really don't think you wouldn't be allowed anyway). At the end of the day you have to have a certain amount of correct answers to pass the test. The original poster implied you could just skip over and only answer what you wanted to answer. I think he just worded it wrong, or I read it wrong. All I know is when I took my test I could only get 4 wrong and the rest had to be correct. Just like the regular driving test, you can only miss so many.
