One thing to remember when buying a truck, if you buy an older cheap one there’s a lot more downtime and expense with it. A truck only a couple years old with low miles should be much more reliable. I know emission trucks have a bad name, but the newer ones are doing fairly well. Wouldn’t buy one more than 3 years old with much over 350-400,000 miles.
An older cheap truck has little depreciation. You very possibly will make nearly a truck payment every month on the taxes you will pay. A newer more expensive truck gives you good depreciation saving thousands every year on taxes. I know people tell you get a different accountant that will “work” with you so if you want to be dishonest like many others this advice is no good. Personally I don’t feel right not paying taxes
For me, buying a newer truck has bumped my payment up a good bit every month, but was financially a much smarter move for me I feel like.dwells40, hannafarms and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -

This is a great starter/project truck. Pre-eld with a 3406. Theres old heads that are retiring and don’t even know what truckersreport is, still use flip phones.
Pre-eld= Paper logs= MONEY. I have two gold bars that I can clap together. Cash is king but gold is the language of the gods, just saying.
Mechanical CAT= you have to really murder a motor like this to even break it down.
