If you are in school or thinking about going I just wanted to give you all a heads up on what you are getting into. You are about to enter one of the most corrupt businesses in the world. You will learn to lie on day one. Starting with your log book. Your FM will call you on your cell phone and ask you to run loads he knows you don't have the hrs for. That way there is no record of your conversation on the qualcomm. If you want to make any money at all you will take these loads and catch a couple of hrs sleep when you can. D.O.T is out to get you from day 1. Never tell a D.O.T officer your new. You will get screwed over. I'm not trashing the whole career. I loved driving but I wished someone had told me the truth about how it really was. I listened to the recruiters when they blew smoke and thought all I had to do is drive. My first week out I averaged getting maybe 2 hrs sleep a night because of impossible delivery times and numerous problems that ate into my breaks. My 3rd day I was standing knee deep in mud in the pouring rain trying to get a piece of metal from between my trailer tandems that had already sliced 2 of my tires. I got it fixed on my break cause the del appt couldn't be changed. You guessed it no sleep that break. I wish you all luck with your new careers and hope you love it. Just keep in mind it's not an easy job and sleep and good food is something you will only get when you go home.
a heads up.

And who did you work for? You obviously dont state that here. Not all companies are that way but you must have worked for a real bad one. Let us know who you worked for and where they are from.
-
Yeah, tell us what company did that to you, so I can avoid them when I get out of classes.
-
One mistake made was listening to recruiters! Most are no more than used car salesmen and can be slicker.

-
Folks, your company does NOT need your cell number.....do Not give it to them unless its their phone !!! She doesn't need to name her company, most any name will fit. Remember 85% do NOT last a year.......................crappy odds.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The company I worked for was USA Truck but like the guy said you will hear these same stories from any company out there, especially the starter companies. Just do your homework and listen to the older drivers. They know what they're talking about because they have been there. Not everyone will have it as rough as I did. It seemed like some headache cropped up every day when I was driving. The good days are worth it and the bad days will make you want to catch the first Greyhound outta there! Good luck everyone!

I have to say that I am enduring more than I thought possible but I am trying to keep a good attitude so that I can see if there are better days ahead. It's not easy. I can handle all sorts of hardship but it seems like there's always something that's absolutely insane that makes the day almost unbearable.
Then there are the good moments, and I think that maybe this is do-able.
best of luck to all y'all out there... -
Just hang on to those moments, SB and let all the other junk roll off!!
