Finally living in florida any good local trucking companies

How much experience do you have ? Are you fit to do pick up and delivery ? Food or grocery or even beverage driver.

 

Bingo........OTR will never give anyone issues finding work. Most local jobs aren't paying. Some do. It's kind of like a supply demand thing. Companies don't have to look hard to find local guys. They don't really have to pay great. Too many people are ok with giving up pay to be home nightly. Not only that, many local gigs are on hiring freezes or laying off folks due to the pandemic. Some companies even bellied up. Then even for OTR options can be limited in Florida. I've been driving 11 years, and I don't think I've taken more than 10 loads to Florida.

 

That’s what’s up , like everyone said apply to an LTL carrier that’s currently hiring P&D driver, check frito lay as well.

 

I think most of us in this section of the forums would disagree with that. Unless I’m just out of touch and most OTR jobs are actually paying $1800+ per week.

 

He’s a line driver for FedEx Freight. I’m averaging $1700-1800 a week running line at Saia. Most of the LTL line guys bring in decent cash that make LTL untouchable to the majority of otr gigs

 

1800 plus per week? That's above average. Ain't many of them available on that level. With what the average company pays, to achieve that, an OTR driver would have to run almost 4000 miles weekly, and the majority of us ain't even running 3000 miles weekly. Some ain't even running 2500 miles weekly. As far as my thoughts about local jobs, the ones who would disagree are the ones who currently had enough good fortune to work a high paying local gig. They are not in abundance for real in most parts of the country. In Memphis where I live, you either go on the road, or haul containers if you're a CDL holder. Many don't mind the rail yard life if it means being home every night. I'll let them have it. I hated containers.
