Not necessarily. We've never stayed more than a a few days because of chain up laws.
And it has nothing to do with being "scared to chain up" - I'd rather park than kill someone. No load is worth it - none.
What if it Snows?

I asked a coworker about that once.
He told me about the ONE time he put on chains. It took 3 hours, and he made it about 150 yards before they broke.
He’ll never put on chains again.austinmike, stuckinthemud, JolliRoger and 4 others Thank this. -

You need to learn to put on chains. Preferably in while it's dry and not freezing. You can find your efficient process then.
That being said I rarely chained because I would plan my trip and loads to go around most of it. Most of my chaining was to get out of a truck stop or to a maintained road from a customer. Run distance on chains is not going to happen for me. Exception would be to get over Donner when they put up the truck chain requirement to slow down the 4/6 wheelersInTooDeep, Dale thompson, LoSt_AgAiN and 4 others Thank this. -
When I was with CR England the trainer was adamant about not using chains. We came to a spot where chains were required or that we needed to pull over. So I offered to pay the $20 to a chain crew (it was $20 in 2008). We got the other side of the pass and the trainer told me to go remove the chains. Took me 3 hours to get them off. The trainer asked me if I wanted to chain up again. Nope, not going to do it again. Unless I get the roto chain as in the vid

I considered those but they are a health investment. Could not justify them on a used truck myself.
