I suspect most of the independent truck stops will start doing that. The Florida 595 in North Miami and JJ's in Malvern, Arkansas have already started.sealevel Thanks this.

Yep. That dump of a truck stop just across the 301 bridge in MD starting charging 15 bucks. Plus you get to smell the owners bad breath while your trying to understand what he is saying.bthomann Thanks this.

I've never been there personally, but I've heard it's pretty bad. Many say it used to be an awesome place. Sad to hear it's gone downhill.

Being as I still drive US 301 rather than I-95 today I will not stop at this truck stop for no reason not one. The foreign owners are the rudest, loud and inconsiderate people I have ever met in this industry. They belittle their employees in front of customers, will not answer any questions and if this is the way they are why are they in business in this country. Just go away if you are not happy. If they charge for parking here in a dirt, dusty and cratered lot it must be the final days of a once good truck stop.bthomann Thanks this.

They're both still open. Actually the truck wash is 10x better than the Beacon up the streetbthomann Thanks this.

Hmm, thanks for the update. They must have been doing maintenance on the shop and wash when I was there. I really wish they would open up the large rear lot and get rid of the silly IdleAire equipment.

Doswell Truck stop has so much potential the owner doesn’t even know what he has in front of him. It’s crazy the building is so old on the inside I love going in there though, like a step back in time. Truck wasH is really good and the owner is a super nice guy. That place would be a gold mine with a good restaurant and some light updating/clean up. I refuse to stop at the 104 anymore, it’s been a while. Both them flying Js are #### holes filled with the most incompetent rude steering wheel holders you can find. Last time I stopped at that 301 truck stop north of the bridge was for a short nap after loading at fort AP hill, nobody bothered me. Went in for a drink when I woke up, don’t recall anyone being extremely rude. This was in April of 2018.
bthomann Thanks this. -
That's Ruther Glen, right? One of those J's used to be a Petro, I think. I'm not a trucker myself but have ridden with my uncle quite a bit. Truck stops have always been fascinating to me. Wonder why Flying J insisted on buying both locations across from each other. And you're right about Doswell having potential. Uncle said it used to be a great place in the 70's and 80's but then went downhill.
