I don’t get on top of my trailers. My company has portable catwalks with long push shovels to remove heavy snow. Anyone who gets on top of a trailer is asking for it.

i'm so happy for you, so much so, i might even get a tim hortons coffee just to remove the oil from the garage floor.
(besides, i thought you were the o/p, when i said you said, you ain't even a trucker) -
Snow on my trailer is a sleepless night. I work for a large company where I hook up to trailers in very different places where there are no snow blades to remove the snow. Penalties for snow, ice on a trailer are on average $ 2,000 and additional penalties. I have cleaned the roof of the trailer several times, but it is very dangerous, the metal sheet covering the roof of the trailer is extremely slippery in combination with snow. But the police don't care, the government doesn't care, MTO. There are no blades a truck stops. Some companies have snow blades, unfortunately the ice-covered trailers are taken from the client, which are standing in the square for a few days

The main problem with vans lies in drop and hook shippers. Trailer sits there for a week or more through two storms and now it’s the drivers responsibility to make sure it’s clear. Everyone can whine all they want bout how it ain’t my job, but while you sit there sending Qualcomm msgs and waiting 5 hours for your office to come up with a solution, I’ll have my trailer cleared and out making money. You want a 9-5 job with no responsibilities? Go to Burger King!

How prevalent are these removal mechanisms?anondriverne Thanks this.

Almost unheard of actually. A few dc's have one, but for all intents and purposes they don't exist "in the wild."gentleroger Thanks this.

Yep. The catwalks and shovels are more common.

The horror! God forbid some take off their flip flops and do a little physical work. But hey, it’s not my job!
