Screw em all.... you gotta do what you gotta do. If JB got you paying you bills you did good in my opinion.
So you want to "own " your own company

wow..thanks for all of the awesome and direct answers.
I don;t see how owning your own rig can possibly pay off..maybe I'm mising something. -
This is a great thread!
To make money you have to do something different, you have to find a niche and do that one little thing, whatever it is that actually pays a wage.
dry van to wal mart, the swifties have that covered and way down low, they can supply more and cheaper trucks than you can ever hope.
But for example lowboy heavy haul, pays well, take serious expertise and is a niche that they don't (can't) compete in.
You have to do something different. Doing the same thing as everyone else gets you the same rates/wages as everyone else and if you aren't the low cost provider (unlikely) than you won't make any money.
BTW, a 12k dollar truck needs 10k worth of work right away, you just don't know what yet. -
Good thing is progressives policies are 6 month, got renewed last month, dropped down to around $800 (no tickets or accidents). I am also fortunate enough to live in California were I can still work under the 500 mile radius. Depending on your area, you may not have enough work within that radius so check first.
Cargo is not related to experience and $100,000 coverage (most brokers require) was $100 a month. -

All I can advise is be careful of what you buy. I have driver leased to me and she was a lease op wit Prime. She bought a select truck from freightliner and it appeared to be a nice truck. After the purchase she found a leak in the cab floor, turns ut the floor pan was rotten and had to be replaced. After extensive arguing, the selling dealer agreed to repair it for her for free. Now since then, she has replaced the clutch and some components on the brakes and engine costing her an additional 9K to repair and all of these items are in the fine print of not covered under the freightliner warranty.... buyer beware.

Google LLC in your state. There are plenty of companies that do it online. This way you can shop around and compare and they will provide you with all info, documents etc. right to your home. Some can turn it around in 48 hours.
