Even knowing tragedies like this are happening more and more, we are still being told by our employers and lawmakers to not idle, roll down your windows in order to stay cool. Just inviting the criminal element to make more victims. I guess it costs more to purchase an APU or idle the truck than it costs to replace some scumbag trucker!!! I wonder if our employers or lawmakers would put themselves at such a risk every nite??? Or do they lock the front and back doors to their house when thet go to bed??? Why dont we have to right to be safe in our trucks? This stuff makes me so mad!

my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the driver'but also rember he thought he was going to get something from this lady'' and got himself killed by her b/f. another reason not to ever ever go and find out you are over your head and now you can't back out.drivers think about what you are doing or thinking before you act on it.

Your best bet is to avoid rest areas at night, they attract a lot of weird people. Not
very safe places to park overnight.

How about reciprocity for concealed carry laws? I for one would like the opportunity to shoot back!

Big NO, NO. On the concealed weapon. To many truck driver's argue over silly thing's, like the fuel island and parking spots. Could you imagine if they had a gun in the truck.

Why do some people assume that concealed weapon permit holders, who are law abiding citizens by the way (not criminals who don't care about the law) will shoot it out in the parking lot.

These same people want to take away your right to defend yourself against the criminals. They just don't get it even though it is staring them right in the face. Criminals DON'T care how many laws there are, THATS WHY THEY ARE CALLED CRIMINALS.
