    Finally got hooked up to my first load. Deadhead from LA area to get a clean tank in Visalia, CA then deadheaded up to Hood River, OR. Got a load of apple cider. First load with a tanker so I'm still getting used to it. Just taking it slow. So far it's going good. Heading to Sebastopol, CA

    Cider is pretty thin so will beat you up more than heavy cream or concentrated fruit juice.

    @Redtwin I thought your guy’s type of freight would be kinda light so the tanks would be mostly full so you wouldn’t get much surge compared to the hazmat chemicals I pull.

    Really depends on the viscosity or density of the liquid. Sure something thin like fruit juice doesn't weigh as much so they can fit more volume in, but its never enough to completely fill the tank if they are trying to stay below 80K.

    The best to haul that I have found is frozen concentrate. Its so thick that even a 3/4 tank doesn't move around unless you do silly stuff like stomping on the brake etc.

    Nice. All my liquid’s are 10.5 to 15.7 pounds per gallon and as fluid as water so we are only ever 2/3rd’s full at most.

    Don't you guys have baffles though?. Never pulled a baffled tanker but it has to better than smooth bore.

    No baffles but a lot of 2 compartment trailers but that can make it worse as the compartments are loaded differently because of the weights. We haul 57-62,000 pounds of product gross between 97-105,000 on 7-8 axles. From my understanding there are no baffles in chemical trailers for the same reason as in food grade. The baffles are hard to clean around.

    Delivery of first load went smoothly. If shippers and receivers continue to be as cool as they've been, I'll be glad I left reefers. Understood it's only my first load, but still. First time driving loaded has been an experience. The surge was kicking my ##* on US 97 on Oregon and California. Got sent another preplan before I delivered. Picking up in Visalia and heading to Industry, Ca. Gave me three full days to deliver so I'm hoping I can deliver early, otherwise I'll just be going home this weekend. So far things are going good. Hope I get sent on some longer runs soon but other than that no complaints so far.
