I did ask what it's worth. And I appreciate the input.

I was just under the impression that a brand new engine, clutch, cooling system, etc would have some effect on the value of it.

Also that truck is comparing apples to oranges I think... That's a setback axle single stack 475hp truck. And she's ugly lol.

Pardon the dirt in this photo... I ran her in the woods for a bit last year before the motor job. IMG_20190626_082150566_HDR.jpg in all seriousness though, thank you for your input. It's good to stay grounded.

And even I know 50k is too much

It is not just the engine, it is the transmission and axles, it is the frame if it was abused and so on ... all of it matters just as much.

I said $25k from the description, nothing more.

Judge is closer to reality at $15k.

Knowing the mechanical history of the truck is worth something.
Go in with a list of the wrongs and negotiate with them. Let them spit out the price first and you counter.

Well heres a relative example. I bought a 2006 Western Star 4900EX with 190,000 on overhaul. 14l 60 series Detroit. I paid $29,000 for mine in April. I've since put roughly $10k into it in shocks, tie rod ends, 3axle alignment, steer tire, alternator, air dryer, 1 battery, turbo exhaust, heater actuator, hood spring, cab air bags and a new radiator with all new hoses and clamps throughout. I think that's it but I may be leaving something off off top my head. Idk I may have paid too much but that gives you a pretty close example to what you're looking at.

Sounds like a good truck, you drove it ,so you know how it is. Work out a payment you can make , Make sure the engine warrenty goes with the truck. I think in the $ 30 s,

Don't just look at price off the truck .
How will they pay for the work you will do?
Paying 5 grand or even 10 grand over market price is peanuts if they pay you high rates.
If the rates will be low then it becomes a different story.

Look at the whole deal, not just the price off the truck.

25k total price would be good. He will probably want to build in some interest though.

Would this company be willing to bring you back, if you purchased a truck elsewhere? Or is this arrangement contingent on purchasing a truck from them?

I would still have somebody go over the whole truck and then figure what it's worth.

If the truck has a brand new engine that is recent, I don't know what that particular engine cost but it's probably 20,000 or more. Plus somebody to put it in. Plus a new clutch and all that stuff.

So 25 or 30,000 probably isn't out of the question, but even though you drove that truck you need to know you can get in it and turn the key and go without putting another 10,000 into it before you even get started.

If the truck is 100% ready that you can turn the key and go then figure the price that you need and make sure you have enough put away that you can get your repairs done because it will need repairs as you go.
