The only problem i have with the windows down is the smell after the pee bottles are being dumped out the windows on the lot while i'm trying to get some outside air. Please get rid of your waste properly instaed of opening the window and pouring it out on the lot we all have to share. These are most likely the same ones that use the stall and don't flush or wash their hands.

And truckstops are safe?
-
At least at a truck stop there's a chance that someone will be around to help. An empty rest area equals you, them, and no witnesses.
-
I have never seen an empty rest area. I prefer them over the obnoxious and overpriced environments of the truckstop.

I don't and won't sleep with the windows down, I don't care how cool it is. If you wish to call me a steering wheel holder then go for it, however I shall protect myself before I concern myself with another's opinion.
I would rather stay at the truck stops because I deal primarily with truckers there and not the common variety freaks.
As for the dead trucker: it's sad, it's a story of our society, however it's true that if you lay down with pigs you may just get your bacon fried. He followed her into the rest room....he wasn't headed there for a prayer meeting. I personally don't believe hiring a hooker should get you shot BUT I do believe that you reap what you sow and sometimes you reap a bit more.Roadmedic and idahotrucklady Thank this. -
I have met some real winners at the truckstops as well.
I agree about the windows.
I strongly agree that my safety is the most important at all times. I have no problem with another trucker feeling the same. -
Is there any places that trucks park anymore that does not attract weird people??? Heck there is a lot weird people driving them now...
Ridgerunner665 and rwings Thank this. -
I stopped at one the other night. Left shortly after. This guy obviously found one. Well, technically not empty since the people who killed him were there.
-
The rest areas in Missouri have never been empty that I have saw at night. Most were probably in their trucks.
This whole scenario, could have played in the parking area of the truckstop as well. We as truck drivers must stay alert to area where we are.
