When a government is not protecting people then they are not doing their job. Truckers are people.

Fix the bridge heights and place signs on them for crying out loud!

No way, not when they can write more tickets to fund their failed schemes. And we are not people, especially in the state of NY.

If truckers start calling politicians and complaining about some of these things they will be fixed.

well actually no trucks are allowed on any parkways in the entire state of park way,
just when you come off the GW going north, a huge sign says "TRUCKS USE EXPRESSWAYS NOT PARKWAYS! ITS THE LAW " so wouldnt that cover the entire state? not that i no of any parkways upstate new york
but agree on the issue of digging out the road below a bridge to make it high enough for trucks,
but lets face it, they couldnt do it, it would prob cost the state millions upon millions to dig out every low bridge in the state, cheaper to create a stupid law for the stupid

Only in new York. I pull propane in NY. I use my GPS "ONLY" when Im a few miles or blocks from my destination. Some of these "mom and pop" propane yards are off the beatin path. But, I use my atles for low overpasses, bridges with to light a weight restriction. So, now I might go to jail or have my truck confiscated all because I have a GPS unit in my truck. Pretty soon I'll get fined for having a fridge, because I like to eat. As I stated, Only in NY.

Well, if the GPS is "causing" drivers to hit low bridges, ticket the GPS unit then.

Ummm if I see a low bridge, I stop and get turned around somehow. Yes maybe the GPS software needs some serious updating but can you imagine what reaction you will get from the cop or the company if you tell them my GPS unit caused me to hit the bridge?:biggrin_25512:

The same answer you would get if you say your speedometer is broken......fix it, prove it and then we'll think about reducing it. If you hit it you own it
