Now he is threatening to call the police and have me arrested for grand larceny if I do not drive it to his yard. I am thinking of calling DOT and having them come out and inspect the truck.

Do it, or at least call the cops first. Hell with him.

#### straight. no brake lights = unsafe. unsafe = only a fool would drive it anywhere.

Its probably a broken wire for the brake lights, i would find it and fix it, a little time to find the wire, put it back together and a little electrical tape and good as new, anyway for what you are doing. I drove a mixer truck with the booster axle on the back, well one morning the tail lights and brake lights on that booster axle didnt work, i was not going to take it out of the yard that way, they guy in charge said no get it going and fix the lights later, i said nope lights fixed first or you drive it, now whats it going to be? I had the lights fixed before i left.

Just take the thing to a shop and get it fixed! Turn the bill in to him! CSA2010 goes into effect 1/1/2010 and if you get a ticket it will show up as they go back something like 36 months and that ticket is a "mechanical", one that will show up on your "stats."
If he doesn't pay the bill then just tax deduct it and I'd refuse to work for this guy again and then post his company in the "bad company" forum so no one else will make the mistake! Just document every thing!
