Where do some of you people get your information??? That statement is absolutely false. You should get a job with CNN.Lol

 

Well, that blows. The tuition you rack up would be as much as your first year salary around here, which is in the low 30's for sheriff deputies and troopers.

 

Luckily it’s not based in reality.

 

I'm in NJ. Any law enforcement job in NJ, NY, CT requires 4 yr degree. It's easy to look up. Just go to any of their websites.

 

Thats small money.. I made $95,000 last year.

 

NYPD.. 60 college credits.. or two years military. New York State Troopers high school diploma. Newark PD high, school diploma. NJSP, several acceptable education requirements down to 30 college credits and two years military.

CHP requires only a high school diploma or a GED.
That being said, a young guy from the tribal police just finished the CHP academy and he told me that almost everybody in his class had at least an AA degree. A couple of the applicants had just high school but they had prior experience.

 

Most of the guys I know that go into L.E. at least get a Associates in C.J. or similar program. Lots of young guys that apply need to burn up the time from 18 to 21 y.o. to join so they might was well go to school. That said, police officers will probably be in high demand in the near future and I'm willing to bet that minimum standards won't increase any time soon.
