Cb's thrown in with cellphone ban

You know what they say, "when cb's are outlawed only outlaws will have cb's!" erh wait a minute

 

I've thought about getting my HAM radio license, in the vain hope that maybe there are fewer idiots acting like five-year-olds on the HAM frequencies.

Sorry, I take that back. Comparing these morons to five-year-olds is an insult to five-year-olds.

 

There are some smart people out there but in general most are idiots. Everybody likes to complain about restrictions put on us or the restrictions the government(s) want to put on us but out of the 21 post that I read not one person offered an idea what we could do about it.
People in this country have lost all backbone. We are obviously spineless people because nobody seems to want to step up and try to do anything about the government(s).
Im not saying I have the answers either but we cant solve anything by complaining. We have to ban to together as a whole and show the political idiots that we are not gonna take their BS anymore but sadly people take the hand that is dealt to them and play anyway.
Nothing will ever change unless we change it ourselves.

 

You know - I was contemplating running into Canada as a way to make additional money. I find myself now contemplating removing Canada completely from my Atlas. Banning CB Radios? Are you kidding ... ?!

 

If you can not drive a truck safely because you do not have a CB radio then maybe you shouldn't be driving a truck at all. The one that goes on that the sky is falling should know better and when conditions dictate you slow down. Don't get me wrong there are times when a radio comes in handy and does give you warning only if you can get reliable information. But 9 times out of 10 you already have a heads up just by the way the picture reads.

I have to agree with Harley because complaining gets you nowhere. But how are you going to lobby for CB radios based on the safety issue when the people that want to help just turn on the radio and hear the #### that is always going on? The only answer I see is to get a wireless mic and then all is fine. BTW, my company for years would not allow a CB in the truck. We're hauling gasoline and they didn't want a driver messing with wires under the dash (Before the trucks came out with the power station) plus they didn't want a driver paying attention to the radio when he should be driving. About 5 years ago they changed the policy because the Seattle boys pleaded their case about the passes and all the snow and rock slides. Now they will allow them if you buy the radio and let the shop install it.

So in my opinion CB radios are not the end all safety feature on that truck but they can add information to you which IS the best safety feature. If you want to hear all that #### then buy a wireless mic then everybody is happy.

 

You guys are actually worried about something that was proposed about 10 years ago in the senate! It was rejected because the CB has saved to many lives and helped to keep some accidents from happening due to drivers being informed.

Also the story is about that socialist country north of America called Ontario, Canada! Oh wait a minute we have Obama. WTF was I thinking!

But to tell the truth since cell phones have come on the scene I have noticed that truckers who could drive 90 MPH down the road, talking on the CB actually use his blinkers, look in the mirrors, make good turns and drive like he had a brain!

Now the SAME drivers put the cell up to their ear have to slow down BELOW the speed limit, can't use the blinkers, screw up in turns,can't see the mirror on the side of the cell and screw up every move they make! Watch them and you'll see what I'm talking about!

I LOVE it when super trucker blows my doors off, pulls back into the right lane and all of a sudden I'm up in his trailer and having to make a sudden move out of my lane and when I get up next to them...yep, cell stuck in his ear! AND they can't see the 1 fingered salute I give them because to pull the cell away from the head means they cant HEAR what is so important that they had to slow down so thy don't get a speeding ticket because they also have to turn the CB down to hear that oh so important phone call! You see them trying to drive around the truck stops doing stupid things! Then there are the ones who attempt to back into a hole while having a cell stuck to the side of their head! Yep, Idiot backed up into MY hood and then had the balls to tell me AND the witness that I drove into HIM! That cost ME several hours while he goes on his merry way! TOTAL MORONS!

And to add insult to injury to those of you who do what I just said, this OLD fart uses a head set, keeps the CB on while talking because I'm SMART enough to be able to listen to more than 1 conservation at a time (married with kids and sitting at many truck stop counters) keep the cruise set to where it was before the thing rang so I'm not creating a dangerous situation for the other drivers around me!

Except to talk on a cell while driving! ARRRRGGGGG!

 

It is already coming to the states. I posted something about GA trying to pass a law like this about 9 months ago. I send letters to my representatives about it, not sure it ever passed or what since I am deployed now.
