These are the stories that make me cringe at the thought of owning a truck.
OP I mean no disrespect in saying that. Thanks for sharing your story
Lessons learned, and clearing the air. New&perspective O/O's should read.

Thank you for posting this. I’m still pretty new to trucking and kinda like the company driver job I have. Sometimes I wish i had more control over the lanes I run and freight i haul. I start thinking about being an owner operator and wonder if I could make it work. Reading your post has really opened my eyes. I really admire your tenacity in getting back up on the horse after getting thrown. I’ll bet you do well. Thanks again

Wish I could say that was a one off instance of bad luck but I hear stories like this all the time. Don’t feel bad , I went through all of that myself. The happy ending ? I got through all of it and so will you. Better days are coming for you for sure hang in there.

Was that an old Arrow trucking truck ???

One of the things to consider is can you work on the truck enough to keep it out of the shop? Between down time and the cost of a shop will break a one truck operation.
Leasing a truck from say Ryder may be safer for some folks.LameMule and Accidental Trucker Thank this. -
Even if you can't work on it being able to diagnose the problem is invaluable. dropping the keys off to the mechanic and telling them to find the problem it's doing a shimmy shake. You can guarantee they ain't fixing it the first time or 2nd.MiFamilyGuy, AKDoug and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

@Michael H
Thanks for taking the time to write a true, honest story. Echoing already said, as an O/O, being able to work on your truck is nearly priceless. I have confidence you will get things aligned and make a success story. Best wishes
