That’s what I’m wondering. Usually a Auto Dealer is basically an Agent for the DMV. I don’t know about Texas, Dealers, and IRP. Maybe the Truck Dealer could answer the questions.

It was purchased in Utah and brought to Texas. We applied for an IRP tag in Texas and we are in the process of doing a title transfer in Texas.

We paid sales tax in Texas for transferring the vehicle and yes we paid all sorts of fees so far.

We are almost to the point of satisfying the state of Texas as far as the IRP application goes.

    Hopefully that answers your question.

    Thank you

I didn't realize what buying a tractor out of state entailed. Never again.

    Thank you

It’s usually not bad when things are normal. The three trucks I’ve bought came from WV, PA, and MT. All were fairly painless and quick back before COVID.

My plates on personal vehicles expired in March. Michigan just announced we have till September to renew. Lol. Maybe I can sell them before then, and save some coin. My wife usually runs with me anyways. I’m going down to 1 decent p/u Truck, or maybe a Jeep. Nothing fancy, liability only ins. Doesn’t make sense to have 4 vehicles just sitting around.

Just ran into this myself. I already have an IRP account and it took from 6/19 to yesterday before I got my plates on my newest truck. Currently still waiting for my IFTA stickers. I did some googling and even though truck is already on my IFTA account, failure to display stickers is a $700-thousands of dollars fine.

I'm probably going to get my plate soon and then I'll apply for IFTA.

Fortunately Texas is big enough to find some stuff to do while I'm waiting for IFTA.

I have my authority. I will be picking up the equipment with temps. Can I haul with the temp plates interstate as soon as I pick up the equipment? I am trying to cut cost and create income before I apply for IRP and IFTA in FL

I appreciate whatever knowledge you can share!

When you say interstate, what other states will you be going to? If you meant intrastate, that is staying in Florida. Which do you want to do? You don't need IRP and IFTA if you stay within your state, and your temp tags are good for that.

I will be going up and down the north east side. Mostly out of FL for the season... I'm picking the truck in NY, stopping in NC to get the trailer and wanted to get working get right away to alleviate the cost of traveling while I get the irp and ifta.

Why does't the state give you a 45 day temp plate when you apply for your plate.
