ah man, something's not right, probably your out of country experience they don't like, but still I mean folks get behind the wheel without much experience nowadays. hmm, weird. You should state your location too, someone on here will know better from your area.
-
Have you got a MELT certificate or a CDL license in Canada?
-
When I first started looking into driving in Canada I was told Canadian trucking companies didn't respond to emails, and disliked taking phone calls related to hiring. Although your experience is relevant, unless its gained in north America its pretty much disregarded by most here.
I chose to visit, and speak in person. The first company I visited ticked all the boxes for the type of work I wanted and I was offered a job in 15 mins, stayed 7 years. I'm certain I would have had an offer from almost any outfit I visited, and I doubt there'd be much difference now.
I only know about the maritime provinces, and I'm sure your experience would be normal for the smaller players here but would expect some of the larger outfits to be a bit more progressive , but maybe not. -
after sending in your applications, did you follow up at least 2-days later with a phone call?
i personally made a pest of myself, and called.Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
Probably all fake ads so the companies can "prove" there's a driver shortage and therefore allow them to import drivers who will slave away for $100 Canuck Pesos a week.
joey8686, IH Truck Guy, JayTee and 5 others Thank this. -
Lot of truth in that too.
-
Depends where you are located, and where you did your class 1/MELT.
-
100% ... this I think is key. If you experience is out of the country, the MELT program way is the only way for you.
Cheers -
Must be something to do with the way your resume is designed maybe take some time to make it more professional also double check contact info is all correct
