I've been told by two different companies two different things about DUI's and employment. I have a DUI that is 5 years out from conviction date. One company says that I'm employable and the other says I'm not because the DUI has to be 5 years out from paper ( which means 5 years out from the end of the probation period you receive at conviction. What gives. Thanks.

Different companies - different policies. Some companies may not hire you if you have EVER had a dui. It's their decision.

You can get a CDL all day long and no one can stop you but your chances of landing a job are honestly next to nothing with most decent companies. Most companies say no DUI's for a span of a minimum of 3 years and alot have gone to 5 years but......Most stipulate that you can not have more than 1 ever. 2 puts you out of action with most companies no matter how long it has been. There are a handfull of companies out there that will not accept someone that has 1 DUI no matter how long it has been. With enough time passed a person can get back on track and try again with 1 DUI but 2 has pretty much put you out of action in the trucking industry. I'm sure thats not the answer you want but its the plain facts as honest as i can be. Just go surf some of the big companies websites and look at hiring requirements and you will see most say no more than 1 ever.

You're really going to have to stay dry and prove that you can control the need to drink! I don't think you have a snow balls chance in U kno where getting a trucking job. if you do let us know as this thread will still be here but maybe buried farther back!

But I would not waste the money on a school until you find out for certain they will hire you!

NOW, stay the heck away from these trucking companies driving schools that want to charge you $3-$4-$5000 dollars for schooling! And then 1-2 years of indentured servitude! Just go to the nearest Tech College and for less than $1500 get a driving education! I just saying!
