Ok. Great info. It’s always daunting to start something so big and new as this. Thanks for the help fellas! Hopefully will be up and running ready for 2021!

Like stated before. Depends on the trailer rating. You can do 36,000 lbs without a CDL . It just needs to be 26,000 for the truck and 10,000 for the trailer. One pound more on either is CDL county.

    Nope.
Well I'm not sure about California, but all other states you don't need a CDL. Here is the OK flowchart which mirrors federal and most states definition.

My Friend is a dot officer in NC and he has told me that if your gvcwr is 26001LB and up (truck & trailer together) you will have to have a CDL

Well you can try it if you want to but im not. Lol. To risky. Get a broker that lies about the weight of the item and now your over weight and put out of service. Ive seen it happen.

Don't non cdl drivers have to have a dot physical?

Check out Official NCDMV: Commercial Driver License
It says the same as the flowchart, so if said LEO does try and give me a citation it will be laughed out of court.

Driving a CMV with a rating greater than 10,000 lbs needs a physical yes Only need a drug test once in the CDL range though.
