Hey guys. I have a 2015 international prostar with cummins isx and it has 480,000 miles on it. It has hydraulic clutch system and the clutch brake isnt working. So its grinding a lot when i try to put it in gear from neutral. Now the mechanic i go to says that changing the clutch brake on one of those is hard and not worth it but he says to rather change the whole clutch. My clutch is at 50%. And changing the whole clutch is like $3000. So i need some advice and suggestions. Is it true? Is it hard putting a clutch brake in hydraulic clutches?
Thanks

Cut the old one out, put a 2 piece in and truck on!Hulld, D.Tibbitt, Opendeckin and 11 others Thank this. -
3k for a clutch job shiiiit: and you should go get a second opinion and 3rd. Clearly that mechanic you go to either wants his work well worth it or doesn’t wanna do it so he wants to make it a full job.
But yeah if you’re gonna pull the trans to do the brake might as well change clutch too 50% or not. eittherway shouldn’t have to drop the transGod prefers Diesels and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
If you come to a complete stop in gear you can put it in any gear without grinding.

Clutch should be the exact same regardless if its hydraulic or mechanical. Only difference is the linkage has been replaced with a master cylinder and an actuator.

Should be no issue for any good truck shop to remove a one piece and re-install a 2 piece.
