Depends on where the sign is... I beat a ticket like this, but it was weight restricted.
It's called Selective Exclusion and below is a clip from the MUTCD (Federal Guidelines).
Support: 03 Typical exclusion messages include: A. No Trucks (R5-2), B. NO MOTOR VEHICLES (R5-3), C. NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES (R5-4), D. NO TRUCKS (VEHICLES) WITH LUGS (R5-5), E. No Bicycles (R5-6), F. NO NON-MOTORIZED TRAFFIC (R5-7), G. NO MOTOR-DRIVEN CYCLES (R5-8), H. No Pedestrians (R9-3), I. No Skaters (R9-13), J. No Equestrians (R9-14), and K. No Hazardous Material (R14-3) (see Section 2B.62). Option: 07 The Selective Exclusion sign should be placed on the right-hand side of the roadway at an appropriate distance from the intersection so as to be clearly visible to all road users turning into the roadway that has the exclusion.

What, you mean that no trucks sign shouldn't be halfway down the block behind a tree?Nostalgic, Another Canadian driver, bzinger and 20 others Thank this.

LOL, sure, if they want to ticket me... I'll be glad to fight it because that's the d'head I am.
Another Canadian driver, Bean Jr., Trucker61016 and 3 others Thank this. -
Of course none of that matters if you land in front of a anti-truck biased judge.
Another Canadian driver, homeskillet, nredfor88 and 6 others Thank this. -
Well.....if you avoid those roads then you won't have to fight that ticket now will you?
Another Canadian driver and Trucker61016 Thank this. -
Every single road I've went on that was restricted completely, or restricted to 58,280, isn't in the atlas as a restricted road. Other than just knowing the route, what do you do? Call the local PD and tell them your route and see if it's all kosher?Another Canadian driver, Bean Jr., Numb and 3 others Thank this.

I was permitted on a F m road in Texas, my GPS said it was restricted. No sign, did a load a day, one day a sign with the weight limit apeared. Changed the route.
Another Canadian driver and God prefers Diesels Thank this. -
I think those are ok, but those roads that have the obvious no trucks sign, like going through neighborhoods or maybe certain downtown areas, are the ones i speak of. Louisiana and Mississippi will have those 58000 weight limit signs but they are ok usually. Some drivers are a little too reliant on their GPS, especially a 4 wheeler GPS, and it over simplifies routes. Then it gets truckers on ill advised routes. Many of those will have that restricted sign, like the parkways in NYCAnother Canadian driver, bzinger, Trucker61016 and 2 others Thank this.

I got a ticket from tree police, I cut through to avoid an road shutdown . I just kept my mouth shut and paid the ticket
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
If the sign is in the proper place, I will certainly avoid the roads. If the sign is on the road that's restricted then it's too late to avoid.Another Canadian driver, Coffey, Bean Jr. and 6 others Thank this.
