Here is a bit of advice and you will not like it, drive for a few years, learn from family member by working with them, let them buy a truck and you do solo work, you can’t get better than that.

Thanks that seems like the smarter safer approach, I'll keep it in mind.

I don't believe I would even look twice at a truck with 500k+ without a proven in-frame at minimum. Just my pennies.

Mmuzic12, tommymonza and OldeSkool Thank this.

Considering all the points you’ve made. Might want to consider getting a newer Truck for $60-$70k, the difference in payment might just be less than repairs on an older higher mileage Truck. Sure it’s going to cost more, but it should be worth at least half the extra amount more in 2-3 yrs. All said and done, you may be ahead. With less headache. Also can keep it 2 more years, if you’re not ready to upgrade. Buying the 400-500k range, you will have to upgrade in 2-3 yrs. Truck will be worth 10k. Newer Truck leaves more options in the future. Might still be worth $25-$30k. Or you may decide to keep it longer, especially if you had to spend money on it. The older Truck would be wore out, despite spending money on it. As far as experience goes, that all depends on the person. Sounds like you have a good idea what to expect.

Shop around and take your time.Always have it gone through with a fine tooth comb and stay away from select trucks.
