Hey guys, I was trying to get my own authority and pull a flatbed but no one seems to want to insure me except for Progressive for a whopping $39,316 a year! I got quotes from 3 different insurance brokers and this is what all of them came back with. I can't understand why its this hard to get going. Well maybe I do understand, its where I live. Bronx, New York. All the brokers told me anything outside of NYC will get me a better rate, I guess its time to move? Anyone have any advice for me? I'm 28 with 0 points and accidents and had my class A since 2014, class B since 2011. Any help is appreciated!

I was going to say, you must either be in California or NYC for quotes that high. Your age and new authority will make it nearly impossible to find affordable insurance unless you lease on with a carrier for a couple years and get on with their insurance. But of course that defeats the purpose of wanting your own authority. Maybe you can find a carrier that will let you run your own loads in addition to theirs.
