    Hello all,

This is my first post on here, however, I have been reading tons of post over the past month. I am 26 years old and I have never done any truck driving in the past. I just got accepted to Stevens Transport trucking school and I start on 12/5. I am single with no kids. Do you guys have any advise for me as a newbie, anything to look out for? Maybe what I can expect? How is Stevens Transport for a newbie? Will I get miles? Any advise or comments will help out a lot. Thanks!

Hey Trevmann you are single and no kids, they will love you for that. I have not personally worked for them so i really can't say one way or the other. The main consensus i've gotten about Steven's is that they are a training company. Probably not the worst but certainly not the best either. That's my 2 cents.

Thanks for your info carramrod, any little bit helps! I am reading horror stories on here about them, and I am starting to think that maybe I should start out somewhere else. I would like to just be able to pay for my own training, but I can't afford that, so I am kind of relying on a company to sponser me.

I have a suggestion to you, call them back and ask to speak with Shirley in the student school finance department. Ask her how much the note you are signing is for and get all the details. I just spoke with her. Over $7K owed to Stevens # 216 a month if you walk away from Stevens before get this 3 years. I couldn't hang up fast enough. I wish you well. If you are new, I spoke with CRST out of Iowa, pay sucks and you team but after 8 months you can walk. Also spoke with Prime, inc out of MO and they sound like the best out of the training lot. Good Luck

    Trevmann:
go to your local Tech school or college and sign up for their CDL school: It will cost at the most $1500 which is a hellofa lot letter that signing your life away to a company school that will treat you like an indentured servant until you get out from under them!

They will send you a copy of everything that you will be signing if you ask for it. They were the only company that I asked that did it.

I am getting my cdl locally so It will not be an issue if I go with them.
