Studebaker Hawk,
I hope that TA doesn't fail. I started driving in 1969 and watched as Pure Truck Stops became Union 76 then Truckstops of America then they became travel centers. When Pilot took over the Flying J's they changed their great restaurants to run of the mill Denny's to save costs.
At least TA left the Petro's Iron Skillets alone even though they seem to be ready to close out the Country Prides in favor of a national change to IHOP.
Most of the old Mom & Pop truck stops are gone that catered to the professional driver. Some of the franchised TA's and Petro's will probably make it like the Moon family empire or Bobby B's Lexington TA/Raphine Petro.
Even though I'm retired now my wife and I still stop at a TA or Petro when we are travelling in the 5th wheel across the country. You will not take the patronage I have for TA away. Thanks
Travel Centers of America is failing and will declare bankruptcy within five years.

I used to stick to just Loves & Pilot Flying J, but lately the TA & Petro have been growing on me. The old skool style, the barber shop, the arcade, some even have a lounge (bar). Yeah they are old, but the amenities are really nice. I have yet to see a lounge at a Loves or P/FJ!
If they did a little facelift on them they might beat out the new kids.disoba and LoSt_AgAiN Thank this. -
The Flying J in Fargo may still have a bar there. Used to be a few of them that had bars.cke Thanks this.

There’s no way Citibank’s $200 million is going into rehabbing their properties even though that’s what it’s nominally for. I think they’re going to keep that in the piggy bank and when they do declare bankruptcy, that’s they money they’ll pay the executive bonuses out of.
Check out their history. When they are profitable it’s just barely. TTM is Trailing Twelve Months.

Other than waiting for their stimulus checks, most are not paying attention to anything else.

The last crash in 2008 is why I got into trucking. I was selling into the construction trades in South Florida and the Caribbean - Hotels and Condos. When the crash hit it was like a neutron bomb hit the economy. One in every five homes was in foreclosure. There were no jobs. The next crash will be much worse because they will try money printing their way out of it. People will be unemployed , inflation will be rampant and the government will be powerless to stop it.Zangief Thanks this.

Sounds like the 2nd Great Depression!

Yep it’s still there. It’s called The Wind Break. They do a very good business there, between the locals and some drivers.
