Could you post a pic of your truck as is now. then we could consider what we see with your statement.

It's actually on a truck out at the farm, but I posted a link I forgot to for the tank in my original post. As it's the in-laws farm I'm unlikely to be out there for a couple weeks.

I have a standard long bed F-350 Crew cab. A picture of this truck it's kind of immaterial isn't it? The bed will be removed and replaced with a CM flat bed. This is required so that the step deck can clear. Cannot leave the standard bed on the truck. I could go without a bed at all, but it's kind of nice having a flatbed instead of no bed.

It is immaterial so I will go.Xray4 Thanks this.

Which if it's a standard long bed I'd be extremely shocked if you don't have room to mount a skinny tank. Trailer must have massive front overhang, more than I've seen in any other trailer.
-
Should be plenty of room in front of the trailer for an "L" shaped aux tank.
Xray4 Thanks this. -
I'll check it out but I have measured out 48 in from the ball for clearance of the front of that step deck and it only leaves about 6 in or so to the cab. The step deck, the top deck, is your standard 102 in width and it goes all the way up to the ball. So when you jackknife at a 90° angle, you need 51 in minimum from the ball to the cab otherwise it will hit the cab. That's why I really don't think a standard l-shaped auxiliary tank mounted in the typical location will work. I have one of those there now. It would be great if I could just use it but the point of this post is that I do not think there is a safe way to have fuel on the truck and I am trying to see if anyone here has mounted fuel in their trailer.

Build a tank in place of the head board ?
mnmover Thanks this. -
I doubt anyone on here has experience with this other than reefer fuel tanks. Your idea doesn’t sound bad in theory, but how long is the fuel pump hose going to have to be to reach your trucks tank? Also, you’ll still end up stopping to refill the trucks tank, granted it’s quicker than fueling at a truck stop.
IMHO it’s going to be better overall to keep the fuel on the truck and find a way to have the trailer custom made so you have the clearance for one of the “L” shaped tanks. -
I agree, it'd be way nicer to have the fuel on the truck and not the trailer. I'll look to see if they can build the trailer to accommodate a fuel tank on the truck
