Having issues getting the trailer registrations renewed sounds like a financial problem going on that would send up red flags and stuff like that starts to occur and the lack of maintenance on the equipment as well those are both red flag signs that something financially is wrong with the company & going in the wrong direction

They claim that ND was running way behind on getting tags out. We ve switched from the yearly tabs to the permanent tags this year on our newer trailers. I just go by what they tell us when they feel like telling usSnow Hater, LDYTRUCKER and drvrtech77 Thank this.

Yep. I know Anniston is barely surviving. Even with the Kronospan account. I heard the guy they hired to do what I was doing quit within a week, all the while threatening to beat up the dispatcher in Anniston. They still have yet to find someone to take my place, and the one person that offered, Anniston manager told him he'd have to take a dollar pay cut because that's all it worth to him to keep the regional and OTR drivers going.
Now I hear from reliable sources that the staff in Anniston is constantly at each others throats. Arguing and screaming at each other, which is really par for the course. Its such a toxic environment there, and has been, for so long that it takes a toll. Good drivers want to leave, and the bad drivers get rewarded.
North Dakota has no idea whats going on down in Anniston. Which is fine. Drivers talk.
But let me tell you about the meat in the seats at this point. I hear about it every day from multiple drivers. Beware of this company.TB John, bigkev1115, drvrtech77 and 1 other person Thank this. -
When our biggest customer bought out NABI -North American Bus Industries in Anniston, S&S assumed that since our biggest customer now have a plant down there, that they would be getting all kinds of business from them. WRONG! Everything in there is mostly inbound. They used to have a few loads coming out of there going to St Cloud, MN, Jamestown, NY, or Shepherdsville, KY. But I think its just Shepherdsville that comes out of there.
Most of the time out of Anniston when I deliver or come off home time, I get bounced to Grovetown, GA, Lawrenceburg, TN to ND, or do one of Anniston s sacred Kronospan loads to Eastanolle, GA.
The 3 biggest issues I see here is the Operations department, lack of communication, and the fact that you CANNOT tell people in Grand Forks anything. Alot of their customers are not happy with them. Sometimes they will try to tell a customer how to do their business when they ve been in business way longer than S&S
They ll occasionally ask me what do I think about this, or how can we do this better. I tell them tactfully how things could be done better, then they tell operations, then nothing is ever heard of it again. I ve got to the point where I m like whatever...drvrtech77, Lonesome and LDYTRUCKER Thank this. -
This company just ain't worth the headache for me.
Be careful. I have word that ND watches this thread. You might be the next to go if you tell it how it is.
Thank goodness I'm with a company that appreciates hard work now.Last edited: Jan 10, 2021
Reason for edit: Just aint worth it lol.Lonesome and bigkev1115 Thank this. -
I'm watching this with interest. I'm through GF fairly often lately. I've heard some complaints from another driver but from what I see the company is not in danger of closing. With a lot of trouble with staff I've seen it's that communication skills are lacking.
As far as what they do with their personnel its none of my business. I've found that being polite to everyone keeps me running and paychecks coming.
I've worked for businesses that go under and they have a certain smell that so far is missing. Hope it stays that way.LDYTRUCKER, Lonesome and bigkev1115 Thank this. -
Has anyone heard from hotrod1653 lately?
The last time I posted, I delivered near the house and ended up going over to Jasper, AL then to Madelia, MN. From Madelia to Princeton, MN and to Grand Forks. I unloaded at the yard, and swapped out trailers and spoke to a few people. I went to Dwight, ND and picked up 46,000 lbs of corn and went to Massillon, OH and got unloaded 14hrs early, and now sitting the Canton Pilot.
I just found out that we will be phasing out the remaining T series trailers, once the ones we have on order arrive. They ordered 60, but just waiting on Great Dane or Utility or whoever they choose to make them. Our shop hates the T series trailers as bad as the drivers do. Some of those trailers are very old, especially the Wabash T series.
One of the worst things they have done is convert a lot of the newer trailers from a regular van to a VB series. Certain customers will not allow a VB series because of the weight and the load bars in the roof. And the only places that really need those trailers are Janesville, Toledo, and a couple of our largest customer plants, and they re not really that busy eitherLonesome, LDYTRUCKER and hotrod1653 Thank this. -
Hey brother I’m around. Just mending this leg of mine. Hope your well.Lonesome, bigkev1115 and LDYTRUCKER Thank this.
