Obviously, this has to do with teaming. But why do I see some carriers advertising it as paying only 13 cents per mile? I would really appreciate some general discussion on the topic of teaming/pay. As always, thanks for your time and more importantly, your wisdom.

Typically, with team driving you get paid for all of the miles the truck moves. Since the truck moves while you are sleeping or sitting in the passenger seat you are still getting mileage pay. You have to be someone who can sleep while the truck is moving and have a great deal of confidence in your team driver to be able to do this! Either way 13 cents is a little low. I would think it should be more like 18 to 20 cents.bzinger Thanks this.

Hey OP, I know you haven’t been seen since 2009, but you asked for wisdom.
1. Never lease purchase from a company that has filed bankruptcy.
2. Don’t put diesel exhaust fluid in your fuel tanks.
3. Never run team with a driver who has irritable bowel syndrome.
4. Never get a roller dog from behind the arrow that says “still cooking”.
5. Not trucking related, but never play leapfrog with a unicorn.
@snowman_w900, help me out here.snowman_w900, ExOTR, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
"Second seat" refers to a rookie driver who is team driving with an experienced driver from the company. So say you get your CDL but have no real world driving experience. Some mega hires you, and teams you up with a trainer who has a couple years of experience. You are a "second seat" driver. Which basically means you are in the probationary or training phase. Usually you have to safely complete X amount of miles before you can upgrade out of probation and make more money.
