isn’t compensation pretty much the first (or one of the first) things discussed as soon as the job is offered? Not being a wise arse, just odd that it didn’t come up.
Cant chose between jobs

FedEx freight could eventually become a home daily job with a little seniority. And the pay there can be very good. It’s not uncommon for folks working there to be in the six figure range after a few years.
it’s worth investigating and finding out the details for sure. Freight really is a place that you can retire from.JoeyJunk and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
Is it nights at fedex?

I would think that the Fed Ex run being offered to a new guy is probably rougher than the run the gentleman " hooked you up " with. Probably a night run Linehaul that takes 10.75 hours of " putting your foot in it to make the times. From what I've heard they Don't tolerate being Late ever. You'll be likely driving in all kinds of bad weather. This isn't to say its a bad job.The drivers potentially make " fat coin". The local run is probably easier, with less pay and hours, but you get to be at home daily. If I was New...I'd do the Fed ex personally. Eventually get an easier run after you've been there a few years. JMOGoneButNotForgotten and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Exactly what I was thinking as well. Even if it’s a harder job, I don’t care. I wanna get behind the wheel and get my experience. I’m willing to be out on the road and drive in crazy weather. I personally think that if I atleast stay a year with fedex and decide to go somewhere else. It will look good in my ResumeBUMBACLADWAR Thanks this.

To me Fed-Ex is a position you take looking for a career. They are geared towards the attitude of stay there and make bank, not the I got my year what's available. Each of us has to choose our path, but most of us also look back going "#### I should have jumped on that position when I was younger".Speed_Drums, bryan21384, Accidental Trucker and 3 others Thank this.

Kinda like if some boss would have approached me when I was a "noob". "Hey ,would you like to drive for Yellow or Old Dominion." Where do I sign? Where's the truck? I'm dedicated.Bean Jr. and SoulScream84 Thank this.

I agree, the choice is clear. FedEx will be around forever, the local freight? Maybe. FedEx gets such a bad rap, but they haul millions of packages, and with the future, that is only going to get bigger.Speed_Drums Thanks this.

Are you sure you aren’t getting Freight and Ground confused? We don’t have regional drivers at Freight, it’s all out and back home every day. And the application/interview/hiring process is very formal, not that it’s impossible for a good reference to help.
Eddiec Thanks this. -
Is this a Fedex contractor job, or a Fedex job?
jmz Thanks this.
