I was at the Kwik Trip in Brooklyn. Boss called and had me shut her down. Have counted about 20+ semis, 5 or 6 RVs, and 5 cars.

Total ended up being @ 40 trucks, 5 RVs, a city bus, and @ 2 dozen cars. It was wild. You'd see singles here and there, then a clump of 3 to 6. Saw one spot where a west bound laid it on its side in the center median, then an eastbound jack knifed and ended up resting against the trailer. Hope the west bound was gone by then cause you just gotta know that he crapped his britches otherwise!

I'm guessing alot of these rock heads didn't have the privilege of growing up in Eastern North Dakota where the term " blizzard " is taken very seriously ....at least by intelligent people.
In 1984 about 5 people died in theyre cars right in Fargo during a blizzard under 20 foot snow drifts ...dumb ones obviously.
The smart ones upon hearing " blizzard warning" bee lined it for the liquor store , grocery store and prepared for a winter vacation at home .
They didn't go out driving around and truck drivers found a place to hole up .
I have no sympathy for those dopes on 80 today cause they shouldn't have even been there .

It's apparent common sense is a lost art. In the south and mid Atlantic, hurricane warnings mean get to the beer store before the power goes out. Not drive over bridges in the middle of it.o_O

I will agree with you about growing up around Fargo and when they talked blizzard you found a safe warm place and stayed put.My daughter started collage up in Fargo this last fall and we were out driving around and came to where they have the barracades or arms to close the interstate and I stressed to her than if they mention no travel or blizzard I said by no means do you go around those road closures you just get back to your apartment and stay put. Than I told her of stories where people didn't survive that tried to drive in those conditions and got stranded and didn't make it.

Yep those people died right in front of the airport and I think a couple more over around ndsu.
There are closing gates on that road now....I think the city got in some hot water over that deal .
I moved to omaha in 1991 and that area has grown in leaps and bounds since so its probably not so secluded out there now , in that storm the airport was the only thing out there and it closed for the storm , and they kinda forgot anyone was out there .
