    Looked like an Amazon trailer. Running at 1.37/mile them tire chains aren't in the budget.

    That wasn't the point I was trying to make. My point was if he had chains on which was required by law at that point 35 would have been the safe speed. I'm agreeing with you guys that the conditions weren't that bad but chains were still required by law, it wasn't up to his discretion at that point. At the end of the day he ignored the posted signs and broke the law so CHP pulled him over

    One nasty winter day I was pulling empty doubles, my speed was 45 mph. I was on the interstate so I wasn’t holding anyone up, there was another lane. One of those Red tractors out of Utah driven by a super trucker ask me what the problem was, he said it isn’t slick. He made it less then a mile. MM 29 I-80 Iowa . At the 80/680 split—- after sliding off the road that wasn’t slick—- he was about 100 yards down in the grass. Not another word on the CB from Super Trucker.

    Must not run California much, they'll make you chain WAY before needed just the snow blowing behind the car is enough for them to enforce chains it seems

    No way I would be running 35mph with chains on that bare pavement, ice patches or not.

    Even on several inches of snow 25 mph is all the faster I will go while dragging iron.

    I understand and I agree with what you and everyone else is saying. Just remember that this short video clip doesn't show everything. The road condition was worse prior to the video starting.
    The driver only had two options. Put chains on or park it. He chose neither so he paid the consequence. There were multiple pull outs he could've safely stopped at.
    To clarify things... I am well aware that just because it says 35 mph speed limit doesn't mean he should be going 35. Safe speed depends on road conditions.
    Maybe it's just me but if I had 20 cars behind me and there are safe places to pull over, I would pull over and let everyone pass me and then get back on the road, again maybe that's just me.
