I don't think most of them poor ground guys even know what UPS guys make. UPS looks at them poor ground guys as peasants. Ground guys just think they are part of the cool kids club.

I'm surprised fedex has made it work this long with contractors. I talked to a guy owns a bunch of van routes other day. 750$ a week is all them dudes make. Some little less some little more. NO BENEFITS. Contractors are always begging for guys. Especially teams. Its pretty sad really

 

You would be surprised how many Overnite Drivers cornered me at truck stops many years ago right after the purchase was made. They acted like I was partially responsible for breaking up their happy home. I didn’t blame them for being mad, but when you work for someone things can and will change that you may not like.

 

Do you remember Consolidated Freightways or CF as it was known? About the time corporate began spinning off Conway now XPO Freight. Those drivers were also Teamsters and didn't believe that they would close and lose it all. A lot of drivers got shafted.

 

CF started Conway as 4 Non Union regional carriers originally. They were completely independent of CF. They got most of the new equipment and a lot of the good freight from CF. Eventually the company starved out CF while feeding Conway very well. Many people I worked with at CF knew this was eventually going to happen as we could see the writing on the wall.
