That is just lunch counter talk. Companies are looking for current or recent drug use. They couldn't give a $#!+ less what you did 5, 10, 20 or 40 years ago. Particularly if there is no criminal record tied to it. Get real

I got in trouble when I was 19. I am 36 now and have been driving for 5 years. I've had my TWIC card for almost 3 years now. It really just depends on the company and how long it has been since the incident occurred.

I guess the drivers that posted that's what happened to them weren't being truthful on here. Why would an interviewer ask "Have you EVER, done so and so?"
It's foolish for a driver to reveal anything concerning drugs if there's no record of it.
Times have changed; it's not like the old days. Even SAP graduates have serious problems finding a job anymore.

The trucking truth site is full of people who believe that mega carriers are the end all to get all. No offense intended to anyone that works for a mega carrier , but some of us out here like small companies.

I noticed that in these threads that nobody ever asks what the felony was. I have friends that are excons and some felonies I'd be ok giving a person a second chance, but others I wouldn't piss on the guy if he was on fire. If you are required to register as a sex offender I hope they won't hire you as a mop boy in a strip club. On the other hand if you are trying to better your life then by all means, good luck to you. I just think the type of felony matters in this situation.

The OP posted what his felonies were, nobody had to ask.

You have any idea what you are talking about? There are 3 tiers of sex offenders. Tier 1 is the lowest, and you can urinate in public and be on the registry. Other crimes are looking at pictures. Yet a felon that sells meth and cocaine and turns a female into a junkie to the point the ignores her kids, such as leaving them in a hot car while she is in a bar trying to find a John to support her habit is OK with you? Very few things are black and white. You should stop stereotyping people.

The apartment I currently live in will not allow anyone on the Virginia Registry to lease, AND as a part of the lease, you can be in breach of lease for even inviting someone on it to visit you, same for dealing drugs etc. I know of three people on this registry that currently drive. What I look for with any felon is contrition on their part. Show me contrition and over time mean it, and I will bend over backward to help you! Wallow in self-pity and/or keep doing what it was that got you locked up and I will never have anything to do with you! In short, I judge by what the person is doing since they got out, not what they were before.
