Ouch, the good news is he might get another nonvolvo truck out of it!? -hides from volvo loves- I KID I KID!

Yesterday we were sitting in a dock, been there for about 3 hours, we were in sleeper. Suddenly, BANG truck shakes loud scrape, at first think the forklift nailed the trailer wall but hubby got up to go make sure he was ok, there in front a mail truck had nailed our front end with the back of his trailer...

But wait thats not the worst part.

HE WAS SETTING UP TO BACK NOT BACKING!

He hit us with the back of his trailer while going forward doing the turn to get into position to back....

Seriously... I have some pics I will have to post them later though, but he ripped up our grill, did some mashing damage to the radiator, and gouged the front bumper, nothing overly serious but jeez, I just don't understand how you hit a parked truck going forward... betcha 200000 dollars he was on the phone when he hit us.

Backing up is one of the hardest things to learn about driving a truck. Schools, etc should put way more time into this than they do.

That is what happens when trainers who probably shouldnt be training train drivers who probably shouldnt be driving. I say that because neither one had the common sense to get their butt out of the truck and look. After 17 years trucking if I have any doubt where I am backing I still get out and look. I like my job and I would like to keep it.

What worse is some companies, will allow a driver to start training, with just 6 months of actual driving experience. Sad, as I would not consider training anyone until I have at least 5 yrs of driving experience under my belt..

Walking Cookie earlier (or rather stumbling along as she led me with her leash) watched a flatbedder back his drives into the front bumper of another rig). I still have no idea what the hell he was doing, didn't do any damage other than dirty up the chrome bumper but still....
