Hi everyone. I'm a newly AZ licensed in Ontario, Canada, almost 37 years of age. Got my license early January.

I have applied for dozens of jobs, with no luck so far. Had an interview with Bison a week ago and got rejected. Did a road test with Canada Cartage, failed that and got rejected. Applied with ERB, Schneider, Kriska, PepsiCo, TransX and a dozen others, most wanted experience and rest never got a callback. Getting tired of rejections. Seems like I always have the absolute worst luck in finding employment, even before truck driving position hunting.

Challenger called me and told me they have a new driver training opportunity in March, so they want me to fill out their application and try again/callback in March.

I've been really tempted to call my previous employer from a few years back and work for him again as an electrical apprentice, as I really miss doing that, and would be nice to complete my apprenticeship and get my electrician license.

So my question is, if I was to return my old electrical job and maintain my CDL, and if in the future I decide to go into trucking after a few years, would trucking companies still be willing to hire me with no trucking experience?

Why are you being rejected from so many companies?

Although being an electrician has it's own set of issues for me, at least I'm home every night. So your correct about that. Thank you for your reply.

Same question I always wondered. I have a clean criminal record, clean CVOR, clean driver's abstract, other than a "Fail to surrender insurance card" back in 2018.

It could be my resume just doesn't stand out as attractive as others. I also tend to get anxious and a bit awkward during interviews. I'm also of foreign background but, I'm not going to assume that's an issue as I see many foreign truck drivers.

I would advise anyone interested in otr life to visit a nearby truck stop and take in the sights and smells of today's trucking industry, I can tell ya it ain't what it was back in the 80's...
