The only heart rate test I ever had was simple. They had you run in place for a minute then checked your pulse. I don't remember what company it was with, I came to Roehl as an experienced driver so I just had to take a basic physical.
As for miles, I agree about the lousy miles. In September I got just under 5700 miles and in October I got about 6000. The problem is where are you going to go? Unless you want to kiss your family goodbye and live in your truck for months at a time, I haven't talked to anyone who's getting miles. As soon as the economy turns around, the worm will turn.
don't bother

roehl is a great company except for miles. if you get corey out of gary as your dsr you will have to kiss his backside to get good miles. i had two decent weeks, one when i first started then the week i left. I wouldnt settle for less than $400 a week. i lost my house and my wifes van due because of listening to their recruiter. I still think they are the best OTR company i worked for but the lack of miles got to me. the last straw for me was when my dsr thought i would be happy to pickup a 250 mile load that delivered in 3 days. some may be happy making $80 a day, some may settle for it but if i'm out for 2+ weeks i expect to make money not live off cheese and crackers.
I realize this sounds negative but if i needed a job and they needed a driver i would go back. I dont need a job and there are thousands of people worse off than me who need that job. I work local right now and dont make much more than i did with roehl but i am home every morning and dont sit in a truck stop for 3 days waiting for load for a 250 mile load that delivers in 3 days.
Yooper if you can go into flatbed. they pickup alot at certainteed in Lanse and superior extrusion in gwinn. those are both drop and hooks with good miles usually. those are the only loads out of this area that i picked up they have many more customers around here but i only had one load under 800 miles out of the UP with those two. dont go national van cause you will get passed up for miles no matter who your dsr is. -
Wow.... sounds like you fellow yooper drivers are getting the shaft. Im running with and average of 3100paid miles a week for the last 17 months. Guess you just need to find the right place to work. Good luck at. I have 2 friends that drive roehl flatbed outta ironmountain and the certainteed deal isnt that great. My best friend owns his own truck and runs flats for KSR and he does just fine.
