Tankergirl- Do not pay any attention to this idiot. Do not let him ruin your day. Enjoy your new truck. You have a huge advantage because you are not doing this alone. Good luck to you and GR.

I appreciate the mods being proactive and just removing his post. I don't really know what to say to that. Part of me wants to tell him exactly what I think of his kind of trash and defend myself but then part of me doesn't. I don't need to, who is he? I don't care what he thinks of me. Most of you know us enough and know where we're coming from.... you know what, it doesn't matter. I'll just add his name to the list of people who told us "No", or "don't do it", or "you'll never make it". Also known as the list of people who can kiss my ###.:yes2557:

TG, dont worry about the bozos like that. If you can afford to haul for $1.00 a mile, my hat is off to ya... it's about the only way to survive these times... streamline everything you can and when you hit some good loads with big numbers, just remember there may be a bad load behind it. Pay yourself first or you will never see a dime, it's hard to do but you must. You will survive... The big companies say this is the end of the independents and as long as they keep thinking that I think our life will be better when things turn... Price, Quality, Time.. in business you can only have two. The big companies are giving rediculous prices and reasonable time frames BUT the quality has gone out the window. When things turn, they will still be locked to their $1.00 a mile contracts and having pizzed off customers while we are hauliing for $2+ and our phones wont stop ringing. Sooner or later people will grow intolerant to this ideal of pizz poor quality and will glady pay the price to have it back. Then we will be on top!

Sorry for my rant but as for my idle, I am at my hunt camp so I am going from memory, but I think mine idles around 800 +-. My fan kicks on around 210+- and one thing you must not do is panic. The old adage that 180 is premium is way off... these blends of fuel today burn better at 210. It's the emission standards and the engines will handle it fine. Your temp reading is taken from the water jacket where the water is returning to the radiator... You want to panic, throw a gauge right in the top of the head, there are some ports near the exaust side that can be tapped... here you will see temps in the 300+ rang or higher. Water temp is just an educated formality of approximate engine temp. You could also have a gauge or transducer that is a little off, these are digital meters that read a resistance, a weak wire (kinked or frayed) could lead to false readings on your dash. They are accurate enough to know when you are in trouble but not enough to split hairs. The ECM monitors several factors in determining the time to turn on/off the fan and unless it takes a major dump or one of the sensors goes haywire, I would not worry too much. In a stock configuration the ECM will do its job. The gauges are there for you to monitor and establish a baseline, when a gauge starts reading differently than what it normally does, this is when you are supposed to take notice and look into it further.

(DISCLAIMER: I am not a mechanic nor am I claiming to be one but I have dealt with similar issues in my own equipment and with various things that I have built over the years and the research I have done these items are recalled from memory based on facts. MM I believe is or was a certified mechanic and he could probably answer this a little better)
