Shut down 40 miles from Shelby Iowa delivery at the rest area.
Snow was getting heavier and interstate 80 was completely covered and dam traffic was still driving 70 + mph .

Don’t blame ya, I made it to Percival, Iowa yesterday about 1100. I still had two hours on my clock, but said to heck with it . I will roll out at 0200 and hopefully 29 is good heading down towards KCMO.

Was trying to get to the Omaha Area last night for my 34 with friends... got a bit spooked around KC... was about 7 out and had stuff freezing on my windshield... everyone was pulling over everywhere... was rather odd to me since it was 7 out... why is anything liquid at 7... lol ... all the TS were full early so seemed like everyone was shutting down early.

Made it to CB but roads around KC and CB were interesting... in between everything seemed ok...

With the recent videos it had me a bit spooked... probably should have shut down but a 34 in a rest area vs CB didn’t seem very appealing... lol

rolled into CB with like 10 on my 70... lol

heading to Broken Bow come morning then right back to Sumter for Friday.

Needing some tips on frozen brakes...

now that I’m in the Midwest a lot more often, I’m hitting issues of frozen brakes... a lot more than I used to... some times on the trailers but this morning I didn’t think I was going to get the Truck to roll... finally did but not fond of breaking the bonds... suggestions?

If I leave the truck parked without the brakes applied, will that allow the brakes to freeze separately and then apply them? Or does that even matter that much?

    Probably missing something simple again.

    I enjoy my DM... lol

Parked for the night and had the APU running heater... this morning I start my truck and get ready to start my day... but it’s getting colder in the cab... then I realize I don’t have any heat... ugh... thankfully I’m still in CB and can stop at the shop first to get this fixed.

I update my DM with what’s going on and status... and I will update as needed, etc.

His Reply: “can you just use a blanket”

    :p

Don’t set your trailer brakes when you park for the night if you have been running in wet conditions and temp is below freezing. If parked on a hill and not comfortable doing that find a rock or something to use as a chock.

Did you tell him to turn the heat off in his office and wear a coat?

I never set my trailer brakes in the winter. I was taught that in truck driving school.
