Any of you drivers out there have experience driving water truck or any other trucks (lowboys, cement, acid) that are involved in the natraul gas industry? I see them alot here in PA and I was thinking once I get a little experience (Ive got an interview today to drive a class B rollback tow truck) that maybe I could get into the oil & gas industry. I wont lie, my main goal is to drive tri-axle hauling coal, I've got family and freinds that do it and I personally love the "Rat-race" but the few local companies that do it told me they would give me a shot but their insurance companies want 2 years experience, think its the same for oil & gas or will I be able to get into it until I can haul coal? Sorry If I lost some of you guys here.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Any of you drivers have experience in the Oil&gas industry?

I lease with an outfit here along the Gulf Coast and we specialize in hauling for the
oil industry.
Lately we have been running out your way quite a bit (PA, WV, MD, NY) bringing
everything from drill pipe, BOPs, everything that they could and do use in the oil
and gas industry.
I was told that they have found a major reserve which I believe they call the
Marseilles shell which will produce crude oil and natural gas.
We don't run tankers for water, fraqing and the like what we run are lowboy, flats,
steps, extendable flats and things like that.
And I can say for a fact that most of the heavy hitters from here along the Gulf
have opened up offices around WV. Some of them include Baker Hughs, Quail Tools,
Thomas Tools,Slumberger, and many others.
If I were you I would be either beating at their doors or ringing their phones trying
to get a job with em. -
I see now that you are only 20yrs old and cannot travel out of your home state until
you turn 20.
One other thing I forgot to mention is that there are LOTS of pipeline jobs going on
in PA right now. Might want to check with one of them and see if they could help you
out. I'd try Williams, they are a major player in the pipeline industry. -

Thanks for the replies fella's, I've tried some of the water truck companies and alot of the companies that frac around here, it was'nt that they didn't want to hire someone young, dumb & green, but that since PA put stricter rules on what needs to be done with that "waste water" off the wells, they have no shortage of loads but a shortage of where to take them. I will continue to bother them all until they tell me to get lost or hire me, thanks guys.

I driven end dumps, tankers, flatbeds. at your age. I would say the only thing is to bug them until they give in. Most companies here want 23 of age. Just get any thing to drive until you reach the driving age for some of the truck companies. if you have to drive a straight truck. then do it.

I've started to see more and more employment ads in the local papers from the companies setting up shop to start drilling the Marcellus shale in southern NY through PA and over to WV. They are looking for CDL A drivers. Anyone recently work for on eof the outfits and can enlighten us on some details on their experiences?

Can you provide the names of some of these companies ? Thanks.

I'm not sure where exactly in relation to Pittsburgh you are but if you want a shot in the gas patch Halliburton in Homer City is hiring out the ### right now, you can come in, get your 2 years in a bulk truck and move on to the coal bucket. I've been with them 7 months. You're gonna put up with a lot of BS but you're gonna have that anywhere anymore. Pay is great and they offer per diem as well, it's strong steady work and if you can do the work they'll give you all you can handle.
